Paolo at BlogWorld

I spent the weekend in Las Vegas (tough, I know) working BlogWorld for one of my clients. BlogWorld is a trade show/lovefest for social media nerds... so I fit right in. I attended a few panels and particularly enjoyed Jeremiah Owyang's "Social Media Musts" and Tim Street's "iPhone SDK" presentations. I was also able to talk with Adam Carolla for 10 minutes, which was awesome because I used to listen to his radio show every morning when I drove in to work from Ballard.

I'm still adjusting from a lack of sleep because I had so much fun hanging out with my friends, colleagues and frollegues (combination of friends and colleagues). Here are some iPhone pictures from the show:

UPDATE!

The pictures are coming out and it looks like I made it in Fast Company(!), though I didn't think my 15 minutes of fame would look like this. Here's the article.

Thailand Explorer competition update

We didn't make it to the semi-finals. Not everyone recognizes talent right away, I guess. Michael Jordan got cut from his high school basketball team. It happens. We still have greatness ahead of us.

On a lighter note, I heard this at a SeaTac airport urinal today:

"This is the only relaxing part of my day."

Ultimate Thailand Explorers found here

Remember how much I LOVE social media? Well, Amanda and I took a shot at a social media competition called "Ultimate Thailand Explorers," hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Here's the description:

The Ultimate Thailand Explorer event was created by the Tourism Authority of Thailand in order to publicize Thailandโ€™s five top tourist destinations: Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, and Koh Samui. Teams of foreign visitors, selected by judges and public voters, will explore the diverse attractions and activities at these destinations and then share this information online in order to showcase the unique reasons these destinations have earned numerous international awards and inspire other travelers to visit Thailand and experience it all for themselves.

The five teams competing in the Ultimate Thailand Explorer event will have six days to travel around their selected destinations and โ€œexploreโ€ the many attractions, sights, activities, and other features found there. To promote the destinations, the contestants are required to share their daily experiences with a global audience by posting photos, videos, blogs, and travel stories with social media tools in order to inspire other global travelers to learn more about and plan to visit those destinations. After a period of online voting, the team that receives the most votes from around the world will be named the Ultimate Thailand Explorers and will receive many fabulous prizes, including:

  • $10,000 USD.
  • A holiday package in Thailand valued at $3,000 USD.
  • Other prizes worth $2,000 USD

Sergio's first photography exhibition

Do you like Sergio's photos? Do you like cupcakes? If so, you're in for a treat. Sergio has his first gallery showing at Hello Cupcake in downtown Tacoma (on Pacific Ave., next door to UW Tacoma) during the Tacoma Art Walk THIS THURSDAY!!!

Unfortunately, I'll be in Vegas for work that day, but I hope that if you're in the South Sound you can come out to support Sergio and stuff your face with a gourmet cupcake.
