On Injured Reserve List

As many of you know, I have been immobile and on strict bed rest since injuring my back running stairs Sunday morning. Thanks to everyone for visiting, emails, cards, flowers, etc.

I got to the doctor this morning and have been diagnosed with severe muscle spasms. Until these drugs kick in, Katrine will remain my on-call butler and I'll make a bigger dent in the couch.

Wives Shed Like Cats

I have many nicknames for my roommates, Katrine and Moos. Collectively, I call them The Wives. Individually, I call Katrine the "Queen of Ballard," and Moos "The Dark Lord."
Alas, I have new nicknames for Katrine and Moos: "Tabby" and "Himalayan," respectively. You see, The Wives shed like cats. To live with them is to be surrounded by tumbleweeds of hair.

I've grown accustomed to the lifestyle, but the occasional visitor will find the clumps of hair that collect unusual. After Sergio's extended stay in the Ballard Burrow last week, he said he couldn't believe the masses of hair in the bathroom, kitchen and bedrooms. True, we do challenge the average barber shop for most hair on the floor. I actually had to re-tape most of my Christmas presents because hair got under the tape. I really shouldn't have wrapped presents sitting on the family room carpet.

I know, I know. Vacuum frequently, you suggest. Unfortunately, our vacuum recently passed away - strangled to death by a cord of the combined Tabby and Himalayan hair. I'm off to Fred Meyer today to buy a new one. If this one dies, I'm going to the pet store to buy cat brushes.

Matt v Matt: Tempers Flare

Weekend Report: On Friday, Matt came up to visit. Matt has a tendency to force me to drink large amounts of gin. I fought him and drank beer instead. At the Beaver, he and Mattย from j-schoolย got into a ridiculous political argument. Cari and I sat back and laughed at them as tempers flared.

Mom, Sergio, Jessica (Sergio's girlfriend) and Simon (Mom's dog) came into town Saturday morning. Simon is basically the worst dog on a leash I have ever seen in my life. We later met up with Nina's fianceย David and attended Nina's dance recital. Dance recitals are OK for about one hour, but after two hours, I'm scratching out my eyeballs. After recital, we all went to Mallard's for ice cream. I realized that I am the eldest sibling and am the only single sibling. This is wrong and needs to beย fixed. I know Darwin is disappointed in me.

On Sunday morning, I grabbed the Seattle Times and went the Bagelryย for breakfast. I spent two hours reading the paper, which was relaxing. Katrine got me into doing crossword puzzles, but, because I'm not as good as her, that activity was short-lived. The rest of Sunday was dedicated to watching "Lost." I'm slightly obsessed with the show. Considering the weather was crappy, it was my most entertaining option.

Oh, and I also napped all afternoon. I like napping.
